Nasz napastnik Łukasz Tumicz w listopadzie odwiedził jedną z białostockich szkół językowych „Prima”. Tamtejsi uczniowie mięli okazje porozmawiać z piłkarzem m.in. o jego przygodzie z piłką, a tym samym poćwiczyć umiejętność posługiwania się językiem angielskim.
Przypominamy, że popularny „Tumi” zanim trafił do Jagiellonii, od 17-stego roku życia grał w amerykańskim zespole Winchendon School (juniorzy), a następnie w Rhode Island Rams (wcześniej: Reduta Bisztynek, Stomil Olsztyn).

Why did you choose to practise football?
I chose to play soccer :) because my older brothers also played. And soccer is the most popular sport in Poland.
When did you start to play?
I started playing soccer when I was 10 years old.
Do you practise any other sports?
I used to play volleyball, but I quit because I wasn't tall enough.
Do you have any special diet?
I dont have any special diets. I am trying to eat healthy and make healthy food choices. I try to stay away from fats and things such as white bread, potatoes, sweets, and fast-foods.
How many injuries have you suffered from? And what was the most serious one?
I have suffered a lot of diffrerent injuries. The most serious one happend when I played in the USA. I torn ligaments in my ankle.
How do you feel when you loose a game?
I feel angry and disappointed and many times I would rather be alone to contemplate the loss.
Why do you play for Jagiellonia?
I play for Jagiellonia because they gave me an opportunity to come back to play in my home country, which I am really thankful for.
What do you think about Jagiellonia's fans?
I think that Jagiellonia has great fans and I really enojy playing at Sloneczna Street.
Is fans' support important to you?
It is important, because there are no teams without fans, no players without fans. Those things are strictly combined and have to coexist.
What do you think of learning languages? How many languages can you speak?
I am fluent in two languages, English and Polish. I think that learning languages is really important not only because its easier to get a good job if you speak another language but also knowing different language gives you an opportunity to interact and learn about people from different countries and communicate all over the world.
How many years did you spend studying in the US?
I studied there over six years. Two years of high-school and four years of college (university).
How was it different from studying in Poland?
High-school that I went to was very different. It was a very prestigious school. Very formal and expensive. However university is very casual and fun. I enjoyed both.
Did you like studying there?
Yeah, I really had a lot of fun. But I also had to work really hard in class becasue the major I chose to study (kinesiology) is really difficult.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream...is to be happy no matter what I do or where I am.
What is your favourite football club and footballer?
Don't have one or the other.
Do you have a lot of free time for your friends and family?
I don't have a lot of time, but I am trying to use any free time I get to spend time with my family.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time I like to watch movies and spend time with my little niece Nina.
Do you enjoy living in Białystok?
I really like this city.
How does it feel to be recognised by other people? Are there any bad sides of being famous?
There are positive and nagative aspects to being recognized by people. However, I am trying to be discrete in everything so I dont stick out too much.
